Caring Nurse Award
The expression “nursing somebody back to health” isn’t just a figure of speech. It reflects the primary role of nurses…”frontline” caregivers who tend to so many of our needs when in the hospital. They empathize with us when we don’t feel well and they encourage us as we get better. They serve as a vital link between patients and their families.
At Bayshore’s Healthy Tomorrows, we want to put the spotlight on the nurses in our local hospitals through our new Caring Nurse Award! Together, we join in inviting you to nominate a nurse who you believe merits being honoured by their community. Fill out the form below.
The Caring Nurse Award is sponsored by Bayshore’s Healthy Tomorrows and Advanced Pain Relief, the region’s leader in drug free, non-surgical pain solutions. Find Dr. Moona in Owen Sound and Waterloo. First we listen, then we heal. To book an appointment in Owen Sound or Waterloo, visit advancedpainrelief.ca.

She always treated dad with the utmost respect, and we know he would appreciate the care that she gave to him on his last journey of his life.
Lauren Dekker, RN, Brightshores Health System - Wiarton
Lauren’s nominator tells us that she brought her young son to the ER with severe neck pain. Like any mom, she was distraught with her child in so much pain – but Lauren helped to calm her fears, and even called her at home later on to check in on her. That phone call was a simple but extremely needed piece of the puzzle to settle her mind and set her worries aside. Lauren’s empathy, soft touch, and caring demeanor is what sets her aside.
Cindy Kamrath, RPN, Brockton Family Health Team - Walkerton
Cindy’s nominator tells us: “Cindy continually gives my husband and I the support we need. She gave me the advice to go to the ER immediately after I had a suspected TIA. I was too confused to realize that was the correct action for me. She is a tremendous asset to Dr. Wilhelm, and the patients seen by her.”

Her nominator writes: “Stephanie has gone above and beyond for me, my children, and she’s become someone that I can talk to for beyond medical issues. She sees her patients for what they are and what they need. Since I was diagnosed with cancer, she was the one that went above her job duty and called me at home to see how I was doing, and what she could do for me beyond the medical treatment. She was with me every step of the way and made sure I got the very best, and speedy treatment.”
