The deal the Owen Sound Attack made with the Windsor Spitfires last week wasn't greeted with overwhelming approval in certain circles.
Only time will tell who did better in the transaction.
But over time, the dealing of Paul Bezzo, or the dealing of high draft picks to get a solid defender, illustrates probably the longest running dilemma with the Owen Sound franchise from the very beginning.
I want you to name all of the Owen Sound Platers defencemen, or all of the Owen Sound Attack defencemen, who were drafted here and developed here, and then moved onto further success at the Pro level.
I'm not going to let you use Scott Walker.
Even though he played defence here, he makes his living as a forward in the NHL.
And I'm going to disqualify you from using Mark Giordano and Andrej Sekera since both were well on their way to big league hockey when they arrived here.
So again, name all of the defencemen drafted and developed here, whose career arrow went upwards......?
Trent Cull ? Mark Vilneff ? Shane Kenny ? Steve Gallace ? Chris Wismer ? Matt Osborne ? Kyle DaFoe ? Kyle Flaxey ? Adam Campbell ? Dave Stephenson ? Michael Barrett ? Chris Hopiavuori ? Kris Fraser ? Richard Power ? Dan Rogers ? Matt Smyth ? Trevor Koverko ? Jeff Moor ? Zach McCullough ? Andrew Shorkey ? Michael D'Orazio ? Brad Humberstone ? Spencer Metcalfe ?
The list of success is not lengthy.
For the record, I'd take Bobby Sanguinetti, David Kolomatis & Theo Peckham and then allow special status for Agris Saviels & Jeremy Rebek.
