Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Today is Stop # 2 on the Grey Bruce Junior Golf Tour with the youngsters competing at Scenic City Golf Course.
The 2019 Tour started last week at Whispering Hills in Hanover and Sean Tippin from Saugeen Golf Club picked up right where he left off.
The 2018 Champion in both the Junior Division and Overall Category of the tour started this season with a nifty 72 to win the opening Junior Division by 5 strokes over Landon Young from Pike Lake Golf Center.
With a Grey Bruce Junior Championship already to his credit, Tippin will be the player to watch this season.
The Girls Divisional winner for the opening stop at Whispering Hills was Elizabeth Salnek from Pike Lake while Marc Salnek from Pike Lake was the Juvenile winner and Luke McCarey out of Southport Golf Club took the Bantam Division.
The Grey Bruce Junior Tour has been operated for decades and this year will have 9 stops including today's event at Scenic City.
The stop today will be followed in order by competitions;
July 20th at Stone Tree Golf & Fitness on Owen Sound
July 24th at Pike Lake Golf Club near Clifford
August 1st at Saugeen Golf Club, Port Elgin
August 5th at Meaford Golf & Country Club
August 13th at Legacy Ridge Golf Club, Owen Sound
August 19th in Kincardine at Ainsdale Golf Club
& then the finale Monday August 26th at Cobble Beach Golf Links in Georgian Bluffs.
It's an active schedule, no question, one that tests the ability of a young golfer, but also affords them an opportunity to develop their game over a 2 month period in the Grey Bruce Junior Golf Tour.
