The Owen Sound Attack are away for the weekend, leaving the ice surface at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center open for the Owen Sound Skating Club.
The Skating Club will make great use of the venue Saturday & Sunday when they present the annual " Ice Dreams " for the Central Ontario Sectional Association.
" Ice Dreams " rotates from club to club on a year to year basis giving each of the dozen or so clubs in our region the opportunity to both host the event and generate funds for their respective programs.
This weekend, like every " Ice Dreams " weekend, will be very active.
The early estimate has almost 200 skaters scheduled to perform and be judged by the evaluating panel in their respective category.
Overall, there are almost 60 categories in which a skater could choose to participate in, depending on age.
The merits of the competition are multiple.
The most significant aspect, I'd think, is the opportunity for a local skater to compete on a big surface, in front of a bigger than normal audience, all the while being evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges.
Welcome & good luck to the skaters from our broadcast region competing and all the best to the Owen Sound Skating Club while hosting this major annual event.
