Weekend Options

What are you doing this weekend ?

Today, the Bluewater Football League has the completion of their second week of the season as the OSCVI Falcons are at Flesherton to face Grey Highlands and the defending champion Saugeen District Royals are at Hanover to face John Diefenbaker.

Speaking of Hanover, it is a sign of the change of the seasons when the racetrack closes for the year.

Hanover's 31st and final harness card of the year has a special starting time of 1:30 tomorrow afternoon.

There are many ways to numerically gauge the success of a racing season; attendance, or betting handle, or a combination of both.

From my perspective, toss away the numbers, this race season like most race seasons at the Grey County oval has delivered solid racing, terrific highlight events and enough fun around the track to deem it as highly successful.

Finally this weekend in hockey.

Owen Sound's Brian O'Leary returns to coaching in Ontario as his new team, the Huntsville Muskoka Otters are in Collingwood tonight to meet the Blues.

The Attack are at London tonight and then home to Kitchener tomorrow night trying to break an 8 game losing skid on home ice head to head with the Rangers.

What are you doing this weekend ?

I'm Fred Wallace
