It's cliche, I know, about how one season ends and another begins, whether we're talking life, or sports, or whatever.
But I really can't think of another time through the years, when it's been as pronounced as it is this weekend.
Tonight in Orangeville, the Owen Sound Attack play their final pre-season game, a matchup with Brampton leading to the start of the Ontario Hockey League season.
Of course, since the Collingwood Blues open tonight at Orillia, plus schools and registration nights have been in full swing this week, it's fair to say fall and winter, sportswise are here.
Still, spring and summer aren't completely over.
The Bluewater Fastball League Championship tournament starts tonight and runs all weekend at Chepstow.
The York Region Soccer League Playoffs in Division 1 commence tomorrow afternoon at 3 pm at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex as the City Strikers host the Bradford Cruzaders.
Sauble Speedway has their final card for 2009 tomorrow afternoon also at 3 pm, and please note the special start time.
Plus tomorrow night, for me, it's my final night at Hanover Raceway.
And somewhere tomorrow night between Hanover and the city limits of Owen Sound, I'm sure I'll get the feeling that the sporting seasons are morphing from one into another.
Have a great weekend.
I'm Fred Wallace
