If you totally ignored the weather, you could say it's been a tremendous summer in Owen Sound.
Certainly from a sports standpoint.
The number 1 story would be the second consecutive Presidents Cup for the van Dolder Home Team Woodsmen.
Also, Orangeville is very high in its praise of Owen Sound Minor Lacrosse as a quarter of the Northmen roster graduated from the NorthStars Minor Program.
The Junior B NorthStars also had a decent season and a great playoff, and game for game, they were easily the most exciting sports team, win or lose.
In fastball, the Canadian Junior Men's Tournament hosted by the Brick Brothers Volkswagen Selects had a great week with plenty of twists and turns in the storyline.
And the return of the the Verge Senior Selects was highlighted by an exciting triumph over the eventual World Champions from Australia in an exhibition match at Duncan McLellan Park.
So, it was a great summer.
And it's not close to being over, sportswise.
The City Strikers Soccer Club in their first year in the York Region Division 1 loop, finished second in the standings & are gearing for a playoff game on the 12th, most likely against Orillia.
And tonight in the Premier Division semifinals, regular season champion Grey Motors United will host a stubborn Collingwood side that has been the only club to beat Grey Motors on the season.
Can a great summer of sports, get better ?
