Nashville Out

Nashville has been withdrawn from MLS Tournament after receiving 9 positive COVID-19 tests.

Originally, Nashville’s opening match against the Chicago Fire set for Wednesday was postponed after 5 positive results were confirmed. 

As a result of the withdrawal of both Dallas and Nashville, the MLS reconfigured the groups into 6 groups, each consisting of 4 teams, and revised the qualification criteria for the knockout stage.

Collin Morikawa shot 7 under par for the lead after 1 round

Morikawa begins Round 2 at 7:23 this morning

Canada's Adam Hadwin is 2nd, 1 stroke back while another Canadian Nick Taylor is 2 strokes back.

Hadwin and Taylor will both tee off after noon today

Six Canadians are in the field including Cory Conners from Listowel who is tied for 49th after the opening round

Conners will begins his second round at 1:10 pm this afternoon

 


GAO at Saugeen Golf Club

The 2020 Golf Ontario Under 19 Boys Golf Tournament will be hosted at Saugeen Golf Club July 27th-30th

There are 3 Qualifying Tournaments leading to the Championship which will have a maximum field of 114 players.

 

 

NASCAR Xfinity Series

at Kentucky Speedway

Austin Cindric won the first of two NASCAR Xfinity Series races at Kentucky, charging past Chase Briscoe on an overtime restart for his 1st victory of the season and 1st of his career on an oval.

Briscoe started on the inside of Cindric on a restart in overtime, pulled ahead briefly, but Cindric rallied back & scored his first victory of 2020, securing a ticket to the Xfinity Series Playoffs. 

Tonight, the Xfinity Series Alsco 300 goes at Kentucky Speedway

Sunday afternoon, the NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400 will be staged.

 


Jays To Bring Martin To T.O.

Toronto Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said that 1st-round draft pick Austin Martin is expected to join the summer training camp at Rogers Centre.

Montoyo said the 21-year-old shortstop will be added to the team's 60-man player pool.

Martin, a 5th overall draft pick, batted .377 for Vanderbilt during the 2020 college season.

The Blue Jays have yet to make a determination on where they’ll play Martin

He started games at 6 different positions during his freshman year at Vanderbilt.

 


Ping Pong Probe

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has instructed the state's sportsbooks to suspend betting on all table tennis events in Ukraine or any matches involving 6 specific players, after being warned of potential match-fixing.

The Sports Wagering Integrity Monitoring Association alerted New Jersey regulators on July 7th of match-fixing concerns 

With most major sports halted by the coronavirus pandemic, betting on obscure international table tennis became increasingly popular at U.S. sportsbooks, with hundreds of thousands of dollars wagered daily on matches that took place throughout the day.
