Peel Region continues to be one of the hot spots in Ontario for COVID-19 cases.
Dr. Lawrence Loh, the top public health official for the region, says there has been a six-fold increase in the average number of contacts being identified for each person who tests positive for COVID-19 in recent weeks.
Loh says for most of the pandemic, the average number of contacts identified per case was around 5, but recently went up to 30.
He says this means people are letting their guard down and precautions are not being followed.
