THE OPPORTUNITY:
We have a rare opening in Owen Sound for a Part Time Technical and IT Assistant!
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Technical Maintenance/repair of broadcast and studio facilities: Troubleshoot, perform repairs and preventive maintenance on all broadcast equipment.
- Collaborate with other broadcast team members
- Provide technical support to internal and external users, including troubleshooting, training
- Interface with IT and Broadcast IT teams to design and implement: Audio over IP (AoIP) workflows
- Prepare documentation for ongoing operation and maintenance of facilities.
- Design in detail, innovative, practical solutions to complex problems.
- Verify system performance and ensure that identified deficiencies are rectified
- Work efficiently on a number of projects at different stages with multiple priorities, never losing sight of the details.
- Adapt to new tools and technologies quickly, all while staying up to date with industry best practices.
- Travel to different Bayshore locations across Ontario to oversee different phases of projects
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Professional Skills
- Proficient computer assembly and programming skills
- Broadcast systems knowledge
- Good under pressure and be able to manage time efficiently
- Have excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Motivated to keep pace with rapidly evolving broadcast and IT technologies
- Systems documentation and operational procedures
- Ability to multitask, shift priorities, and be willing to adapt or improve
- General proficiency and working knowledge in all areas of media engineering including;
- System Integration
- Scheduling Software (i.e. Musicmaster)
- Automation Systems (i.e. PlayoutONE)
- Audio Routing
- Signal Processing
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Ability to troubleshoot and identify strategies for preventive maintenance on all equipment.
- Hands-on experience with different types of network services, automation, network deployments and modifications.
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- The ability to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
- Knowledge of a wide range of information technology methods and procedures.
- Experience listening and understanding information and ideas presented by others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- May involve frequent bending, moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels and require wearing hearing protection.

Part Time Traffic Coordinating Assistant

THE OPPORTUNITY:
We have a rare opening in Owen Sound for a Part Time Traffic Coordinating Assistant!
The Traffic Coordinating Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of broadcast schedules. This position gathers, organizes, and inputs information to create the foundation for the daily on-air radio log. Through this work, a database is built and maintained to be used internally for reporting and billing purposes, and externally, in reporting to the CRTC. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential for smooth daily operations.
Responsibilities will include:
- Daily log creation, and exporting in a tight time line
- Order input and reporting
- Coordinating and connecting with multiple internal departments including Creative Department
- Daily follow up with Traffic Supervising Coordinator
- Scheduling client orders in traffic, and the daily log of commercials.
- Maintaining accurate records on advertising clients from sales person’s broadcast orders and special circumstances (example- remote, concert & arts calendars).
- Works closely with creative production leader to ensure that the correct commercial exists in the automation system for a given date.
- Reconciling played spots with orders and building & sending out invoices.
- Transferring commercial logs to the Playout One automation system, and verifying commercial placement, along with associated supplementary production materials.
Required credentials & skills:
- Strong data entry skills and attention to detail
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Microsoft Office and basic computer knowledge;
- Ability to work independently without close supervision and as member of a team
- Experience meeting deadlines regularly
- General office experience
- Knowledge of scheduling programs an asset
- Ability to focus in an open work environment
- A positive, friendly manner, respect for coworkers and clients at all times
- Strong numeric literacy, computer skills, attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and judgement
Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of the radio industry, DJB, traffic systems will be considered an asset
- Basic understanding of programming and advertising content will be considered an asset
