It’s going to be a snowy few days in Grey Bruce.
Environment Canada has issued snow squall warnings across the region with heavy lake effect snow expected to affect the area through Wednesday.
Forecasters say anywhere from 20 to 60 centimetres could fall over the next few days. The Bruce Peninsula could get hit the hardest. But Environment Canada says there is still a lot of uncertainty about where the heaviest lake effect snow bands will be.
“The most significant lake effect snow band is expected to become focused over Bruce County and northern Grey County this afternoon into Tuesday. In addition, westerly winds gusting up to 60 km/h will develop this morning resulting in blowing snow, especially for exposed areas near Lake Huron,” Environment Canada says in its warning. “Lake effect snow is expected to persist through Tuesday before weakening and shifting northward to be confined mainly over the Bruce Peninsula Tuesday night into Wednesday.”
In the forecast today, 10-15 centimetres of snow throughout the day, and cold temperatures with a daytime high of -12, feeling more like -22. Another 15 centimetres of snow is expected tonight. And flurries, snow squalls and blowing snow tomorrow.
All school buses in Bruce and Grey counties have been cancelled Monday.
