Hanover Police say two people are facing a slew of charges following a traffic stop.
Police say on Jan. 14, officers stopped a Honda CRV which tried to flee from police. The vehicle suddenly pulled over at the intersection of 10th Street and 5th Avenue in Hanover.
The 37-year-old driver from Markdale and his 40-year-old female passenger of no fixed address were placed under arrest.
Police say a search led to the seizure of a quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and Canadian currency, as well as a stun gun, a collapsible baton, knives, break and enter tools, and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking.
The accused were remanded into custody at their bail hearing and were both charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking, possession of fentanyl for the purposes of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a weapon, occupant of a vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon, and possession of break-in instruments.
The driver was further charged with driving while impaired, fleeing from a peace officer, failing to stop for police, and having a dirty licence plate.
The female passenger, meanwhile, was additionally charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
The two accused remain in custody and are set to appear in court on Thursday.
