Landen Hookey has been named the new captain of the Owen Sound Attack.
Hookey, 20, is the 28th captain in Owen Sound franchise history, and will wear the ‘C’ on his jersey for the first time when the Attack visit the Sarnia Sting tonight.
“It’s obviously a really big honour. I’m really grateful for it and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the year with these guys,” Hookey says in an interview. “I think it will be a challenge for us to try to get into playoffs. And I think will take that in and we’ll get there.”
Hookey succeeds Konnor Smith as Owen Sound’s captain, after the defenceman was traded to the Brampton Steelheads earlier this week.
The new Attack captain has been thriving in his overage season in Owen Sound, leading the team with 34 points in 38 games and playing a key leadership role for the younger players.
