Owen Sound’s leaf and yard waste compost site will close for the season next week.
City officials confirm the last day of operation until the spring will be Monday, Jan. 13. It closes that day at 5 p.m. and won’t reopen until April, when weather permits.
“All natural Christmas trees can be disposed of at the compost site, free of charge, until January 13,” a release from city hall explains.
Owen Sound’s leaf and yard waste site is located on 28th Avenue East and is currently open from 8:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily. It’s a drop-off facility where people can take yard waste such as grass clippings and small branches. It’s open to residents of Owen Sound, Georgian Bluffs and Meaford.
