Blue Mountain Resort is gearing up for what it is anticipating to be a great ski season.
Manager of Public Relations Tara Lovell says nature is cooperating in producing snow ahead of the planned Dec. 12 opening date.
“We are pretty confident going into the ski season that we are going to see an awesome year on the hill,” says Lovell. “We have seen over 30 centimetres of natural snowfall just in the last few days and I know that there have been snow making conditions consistently for a few days for our snow making team. There is a lot going on on the mountain and if we can get groomers up there to make pristine snow for our guests, and if we can get open sooner, we will.”
She says since last season, their team has also been working on their snow making infrastructure and making improvements to their strategy and efficiency in making sure the mountain is covered.
After the last few years of warm winters, she says the resort has been in contact with some meteorologists to take a look at how the season is going to go.
“It bodes well for continued natural snowfall like we are seeing right now and that combined with the multi-million dollar, multi-year project that we are now in the middle of with our snow making infrastructure, we are confident we are going to have a great season,” says Lovell.
She says they also have several events planned for this year as well as other activities including tubing and riding down the mountain in a cart.
