Hanover Police say a struggle during an arrest sent one police officer to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police say they responded to a shoplifting in progress shortly after 7 a.m., November 21st, and found a male suspect who was known to police. They say he had stolen a number of beers from a convenience store.
Police Chief Chris Knoll says it was also determined the suspect had several warrants for his arrest.
Officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, however, he resisted and a struggle ensued.
A 26-year-old man of no fixed address was eventually arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Resisting Arrest. His warrants were also executed, and he was later released from custody for court in Walkerton.
Knoll says, as a result of the struggle, an officer received minor injuries that required treatment in the hospital.
