UPDATE: Shortly before 3 pm on Nov. 5th the OPP reported that the hold and secures had been lifted. They say the investigation is ongoing and there is no threat to public safety. End of the day school dismissal will run as usual.
PRIOR: Gravenhurst High School and Gravenhurst Public School are currently in a hold and secure as directed by the local OPP as a precaution due to a suspected incident in the area.
In a hold and secure exterior doors are locked and classroom routines and lessons continue.
Students will not be permitted outside and cannot be signed out while a hold and secure is in place.
Parents/guardians are not able to pick up their students during a hold and secure.
Families have been communicated with via SchoolMessenger.
The OPP reported on Twitter that it is conducting an investigation into a situation that occurred outside of a high school in Gravenhurst.
“As a safety measure, the school has been placed into a hold and secure until the potential threat has been verified,” reads the tweet, “there is currently no threat to public safety.”
