Easton Cowan scored with 1:01 remaining in overtime to lift the London Knights to a 2-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday afternoon at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
London (10-4) won its sixth in a row. Owen Sound (3-8-2-2) lost its eighth straight.
Jacob Julien also scored for London, which led 1-0 until late in the third period.
Braedyn Rogers had the lone goal for Owen Sound. He scored on the power play with 1:10 remaining in regulation. Rogers teed up a one-time shot from inside the blueline and sent it high over the right shoulder of Aleksei Medvedev, igniting an eruption from the Attack faithful at the Bayshore as he tied the game 1-1.
It was a near sellout in Owen Sound Sunday afternoon, with announced attendance of 3,030.
Carter George was stellar for the Attack, making 43 saves. Medvedev stopped 38 in London’s crease.
The Knights outshot the Attack 44-39 while going 1 for 5 on the power play; Owen Sound finished 1 for 4.
Next up for the Attack is a home game Wednesday night against the Sarnia Sting (7-6-1-3).
