South Bruce Grey Health Centre will be holding community engagement sessions in November.
The sessions follow town hall meetings and collecting survey answers over the past several months.
The Chesley hospital has been experiencing closures since 2019. This past summer, South Bruce Grey Health Centre moved the Durham hospital’s ten inpatient beds to its Walkerton and Kincardine hospitals, citing a lack of staffing at the Durham site as the reason for the move. The decision resulted in protests in Durham, and the Municipality of West Grey’s council, which has voiced its opposition to the changes declaring a state of emergency.
The South Bruce Grey Health Centre said in a September release, “We will provide a report summarizing what we heard through the survey, our engagement sessions, meetings with community members and emails we have received. We will also address questions that were raised during the engagements sessions as well as those we were unable to get to and submitted in writing. This feedback will be valuable to us and considered as we plan for the future of our organization.”
The health centre will be holding community engagement sessions throughout the region:
Tuesday, November 12 at 6:00PM
Durham Community Centre (451 Saddler Street West, Durham)
Wednesday, November 13 at 6:00PM
Chesley Community Centre (129 4th Ave SE, Chesley)
Thursday, November 14 at 6:00 PM
Kincardine Beach Pavilion (156 Durham Street, Kincardine)
Wednesday, November 20 at 6:00 PM
