An event to help stock the Bruce Peninsula Community Food Bank was a success.
The Empty Bowls Peninsula event raised $5,600 that organizers say will go a long way in filling the Food Bank shelves in advance of the holiday season.
Over 80 people gathered at the Salvation Army meeting hall Monday, choosing from a selection of hand-crafted bowls donated by local potters, then choosing from five soups prepared and served by local restaurants,
Guests were encouraged to donate and refill their bowls with a different soup in order to vote for their favourite.
More than 100 bowls were donated by local potters and organizers say guests had the opportunity to buy an additional bowl or two for their collection.
The Bruce Peninsula Community Food Bank feeds a total of 1,317 total households, or 120 households per month.
