Summit Place and Trillium Court’s healthcare staff are looking for wage increases as they vote in favour of a new contract.
The long-term care facilities in Owen Sound and Kincardine, which are represented by Grand River Valley Healthcare Workers Union CLAC local 305, joined three other facilities in Brantford, Cambridge and Paris by voting 98 per cent in favour of ratifying a new two-year collective agreement.
The new contract would give all employees a seven per cent wage increase over the term, as well as include a $2.50 per hour adjustment for registered practical nurses working in long term care, and 50 cents an hour to those working in retirement homes.
The agreement also includes benefit improvements.
“The agreement is one of the union’s largest healthcare agreements in Ontario, covering about 550 members working in both long term care and retirement homes,” says CLAC.
