Bruce County council has received a staff report taking a first look at the 2025 budget.
In a special meeting on Thursday, the proposed budget was presented, and described as a review of social and economic prosperity.
The call for such a review was put forward by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
Highlights of the draft budget include showing a 6.81% increase in the tax rate, with 4.04% going toward maintaining existing services, and the remaining 2.77% for new initiatives and assets.
Staff is proposing a $1.2 million to county reserve balances.
This year’s capital budget would include $35.7 million dollars in projects, including the rehabilitation of the Durham Street Bridge, resurfacing of Bruce Roads 4 and 19, and major rehabilitation and upgrades for county facilities.
Bruce County Council will conduct budget review, discussion, and direction into November with the potential for budget approval and adoption in December.
