Meaford is moving a proposed subdivision development forward by entering into an agreement.
Council approved the agreement and as well as street names for the Baybounds subdivision along Sykes Street North during a meeting on Oct. 7.
This comes after staff completed the technical design review of the proposed development, which was formerly known as the Meaford Haven subdivision.
The subdivision is being developed in blocks, and has currently been approved for 55 townhouse units. Future blocks are proposed to include environmental land as well as commercial and residential condominiums.
The applicant also submitted various street names for the subdivision for approval. These include Meadowlark, Basswood, Bluebeech, White Elm, Mountainash, Baybound, Rockway, Driftwood, Edgewater, Bayberry, and Creekview. No issues were found with these names after they were sent to Grey County for approval.
Meaford council had previously approved a zoning update for the proposed subdivision in 2022. Later in 2023, Meaford and Grey County council approved a revision. Following the approval, the applicant moved to the technical design phase, which included proposed infrastructure, natural heritage areas, tree retention, and phasing.
Having now entered into the subdivision agreement, the applicant will look to register the subdivision with the county.
