Inter Township firefighters are being recognized for their years of service.
The Fire Department held its Years of Service Awards ceremony on Sept. 14, where 90 years of combined service to the communities of Meaford and Georgian Bluffs were recognized.
Meaford says Glen McKee was honoured for his 35 years of service, while Travis Belrose, Jenna Bergeron, Nate Downing, Richard Stackhouse, and Jeff Thomson each marked five years.
Fire Chief Jeff Gautreau also received special recognition for his 30 years of firefighting, 12 have been with the Inter Township Fire Department. He received a First Bar of the Govenor General’s Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal.
Meaford Fire Chief Courtney Allen says the firefighters’ dedication and commitment to serving the community is inspiring.
“Their courage and hard work ensure the safety of our residents every day, and we are deeply grateful for their service. I also want to acknowledge the families and support systems of these firefighters, whose support allows them to respond to the call and serve our community,” says Allen.
