Huron County’s financial records have been given a pass following an audit into the county’s books.
During the August 14th sitting of county council, Treasurer and Director of Corporate Services Michael Blumhagen shared that following an audit, the county’s finances are looking good.
The meeting was also attended virtually by Matthew Betik and Donald Harrison from KPMG.
While county staff were ensuring that the financial records were correct, it was found that there was a budget surplus from 2023 for Huron County of $4,642,090 in allocated funds.
Council approved the reallocation of some of the surplus, with $2,089,417 moved to the General Reserve for Contingency, $190,000 moved to the Public Works Reserve Fund, and the remaining $2,362,673 put into the Housing Reserve Fund.
