Grey County is discontinuing a transit route to Shelburne this September.
The county says the Grey Transit Route (GTR), a rural transit service managed by the county, currently offers the Highway 10 route between Dundalk and the Orangeville GO station.
This route, however, is operating above capacity, and the county says this is preventing some residents in the area from using the service when they need it.
“Since the GTR is funded by the Grey County tax levy, we have made the difficult decision to end service within the Town of Shelburne,” says the County.
As of Sept. 2, GTR vehicles will no longer stop in Shelburne unless a passenger is either coming from or traveling to a location in Grey County.
As the service is solely funded by the county, the GTR is prioritizing the availability for Grey County residents.
