Expect a few road closures Saturday in Saugeen Shores.
The Lakeshore Women’s Triathlon is set to go Saturday In Port Elgin, and the 40th annual Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby also begins Saturday.
For the triathlon, Port Elgin’s Main Beach, Huron Street, North Shore Road and the Harbour Parking Lot are going to be closed Saturday morning.
The triathlon is set to take place between 6:30 and 8 a.m.
Organizers say it should all be opened back up by around 10 or 11a.m. The scales for the derby open at 11am ,
The Chantry Chinook Classic Salmon Derby has weigh stations in Lion’s Head, Wiarton, Saugeen Shores and Kincardine.
The derby runs from July 20th to August 4th.
For the triathlon bike race, organizers say the following roads will be closed:
Harbour St./Stevens St. from Green St. to McVicar St.
10th Concession from North Shore Rd./Miramichi Bay Rd. to just before Hwy 21.
Huron Street from South St. to Perkins St.
The Harbour Parking Lot will be closed from 8:30-10 a.m.
The following roads of the bike course will remain open to local traffic only:
Stevens St. and North Shore Rd from McVicar St. to Miramichi Bay Rd.
Miramichi Bay Rd. from the 10th Concession to South Street.
Organizers say, “If you must use these roads during the race, please be mindful of cyclists and follow the posted speed limit.”
