Hanover is well on its way to raise enough money for a new splash pad.
The town says the community has already raised $200,000 of its $300,000 goal for the proposed project.
The proposed splash pad, which has been desired by residents for many years, will be set up in the Hanover Town Park. The park is already home to playgrounds, a skatepark, pavilion, has access to the Saugeen River, and a nine-hole disc golf course.
The total project cost is estimated to be about $640,000, with the community aiming to raise a minimum of $300,000 by this October for construction to being next year.
The fundraising committee is asking for people, businesses and organizations to contribute to the project no matter how much they can donate.
Co-Chair of the committee Marion Massaloup says they are thrilled to see the overwhelming support from the community.
“However, we still need your help more than ever to raise the remaining funds,” says Massaloup.
