Meaford is awarding an over $1.2 million contract for the replacement of a bridge over Bothwell’s Creek.
Council approved awarding the tender to McPherson Andrews Contracting Limited during a meeting on June 24.
The scope of the work will include the removal and replacement of the structure, its design, installing roadside safety systems, and site restoration.
New guide rails will also be installed to replace the existing wood post barriers along Tom Thompson Lane and Concession Road A.
As part of the work, Sideroad 24 will be closed, but Concession Road A/Tom Thompson Lane will remain open.
The current bridge was built in 1920 and following an inspection in 2022, it was recommended the structure be replaced as soon as possible as a result of its poor condition.
The municipality received three bids for the project by June 6, with McPherson Andrews Contracting being the least expensive.
