West Grey is awarding an $8.8 million contract for the construction of the new West Grey Police Station in Durham.
Council awarded the contract to Domm Construction during a meeting on April 16 and comes after the project was put on hold in 2022 when the municipality underwent a cost review of West Grey Police.
In January 2023, council approved keeping West Grey Police, and in April last year, approved awarding the tender for architectural and contract administration services to +VG Architects.

Four bids were received by the closing date on April 11 to construct the new building, with Domm Construction being the lease expensive.
Construction of the new station was included in the 2024 budget and will carry over into the 2025 budget as well. Most of the costs will be covered through long term borrowing.
Council also directed staff to look into construction financing and bring a report back.
Mayor Kevin Eccles says, “this will be one of the bigger projects West Grey has entered into and look forward to watching it happen.”
