West Grey is set to meet with the municipalities of Brockton and Hanover to consider the future of the Saugeen Municipal Airport.
Council approved setting a meeting date, location and agenda during a meeting on March 19.
It’s the latest development in a potential airport sale, after Brockton sent a letter to West Grey in November to try to initiate the process.
West Grey then sent a letter to Brockton in December requesting the three municipalities — who are partners in the property — meet to discuss the airport’s future.
Council also approved sharing the costs with Brockton and Hanover of inviting an auditor to provide an overview of the airport’s finances.
The meeting will include the financial report from the auditor, statements from each mayor on their position if they would like to sell the airport, a discussion about future options, and talking about next steps.
Deputy Mayor Tom Hutchinson says, “I think this is going to clear the air because there is a lot of uncertainty from the investment sector out there that is available to come join us.”
West Grey approved meeting on April 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Elmwood Community Centre and will have cameras set up to allow for remote participation if needed.
