Some old playgrounds at parks in Owen Sound are going to be replaced this year.
City councillors endorsed a multi-year capital plan at a special meeting Monday morning, and it includes $165,000 in the 2024 budget for playground replacements at Comme-R-ette, Bill Inglis and Owen Heights parks.
Owen Sound Director of Community Services Pam Coulter says all three new playgrounds will be installed later this year. The hope is to have them ready to go by early fall.
Several other playground replacements are scheduled in Owen Sound’s multi-year capital plan, but still require council approval during annual budget meetings.
The playground at Maitland park is up in 2025, while Parkview and Kelso Beach parks are in 2026. The 28th Street West tot lot and the playground at St. Julien park are slated to be replaced in 2027.
