École Catholique Saint-Dominique-Savio School is getting some provincial funding for the construction of a new room that will allow for 10 additional child care spaces.
Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence, the French-language Catholic school board for southwestern Ontario, says the Ontario Ministry of Education is investing $2.3 million to finance the expansion.
It builds on the current day care services offered for children under four-years-old and school-age children.
Chairman of the board Jacques Kenny says, “this is excellent news for French-speaking families looking for child care services. We look forward to the next steps in the construction process.”
The board’s Director of Education Carolyn Bastien adds they are thankful the growing needs of francophone families are being recognized in the area.
“This expansion project will enable us to better serve our French-speaking Catholic school communities. The addition of day care spaces is essential to the development of the French and Catholic identity of our region’s children,” says Bastien.
