The Bruce Energy Centre Industrial Park is looking to get the municipality’s approval for an extension of drinking water services to the industrial park.
Nancy Michie, who is the agent for the Bruce Energy Centre, made a presentation to council during this week’s meeting asking for potable water services to be extended to both the industrial park, and 1554 Bruce Road 23 in Tiverton.
Michie says that adding potable water services would be ideal for the current landowners, staff, and business owners in the area, and was preferred over drilling individual wells for each address.
“We are aware that individual wells for potable water can be drilled for each lot for development, however, we feel that would not be the best option for the environment and the aquifer when potable water connection is located so close to the site,” she told the council on Wednesday.
She also mentioned to the mayor and council that it would be prudent to add the service to entice future developers to the area as well.
During discussion, council requested a staff report on options surrounding servicing the area, and the different agreement options between the municipality and the Bruce Energy Centre.
