Hanover Police say they are in the process of arranging to return an accused to the area to face charges related to an armed robbery home invasion.
Police say on Oct. 15, three masked men entered a targeted home in the 400 block of 11th Street, near 13th Avenue with a firearm and other weapons. They stole undisclosed items from the victims before fleeing the scene in an awaiting white SUV, which was driven by a fourth suspect.
Police say after the robbery, one of the victims chased the suspects in a vehicle but came under fire when the suspects shot from their fleeing vehicle. No Injuries were reported.
Hanover Police investigators executed search warrants in Grey Highlands, Guelph and Waterloo, with the assistance of the OPP, Guelph Police and Waterloo Regional Police.
As a result, a 34-year-old Waterloo man was charged with robbery using a firearm, break, enter and commit robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, disguise with intent, discharge a firearm with intent, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, forcible confinement, participation in a criminal organization, failing to comply with a release order, and three counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
Police say a warrant was issued for the arrest of a second suspect identified as a 42-year-old man from Waterloo. On Nov. 30 at 9 a.m., Waterloo police arrested the suspect after a foot pursuit in Kitchener. An investigation at the time determined he was in possession of a stolen vehicle, a sawed off loaded shotgun and a quantity of suspected cocaine and fentanyl for the purposes of resale.
Police say the suspect is facing a slew of charges in Kitchener and was later remanded into custody. Police, however, did not list the charges the accused is facing.
Police add the investigation into the home invasion in Hanover continues and further arrests and charges are pending.
