Working with limited information but supplied with a description that included a hooded sweatshirt, an officer from the Barrie Police Service observed and arrested a 34-year-old Barrie male yesterday morning for a break-and-enter that occurred six hours earlier.
While Barrie Police were continuing the investigation into a report of a break and enter to a business located on Hart Dr. that occurred at 5:40 a,m., the suspect responsible was arrested nearby and found to be in possession of property that had been stolen earlier in the morning from the Hart Dr. occurrence.
The accused was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued and charges of Fail to Comply – Release Order (2 counts), Break and Enter, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000, and Possession of Credit Card (3 counts) were laid. He was held in custody for a bail hearing that was scheduled for today, by video, with the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie.
A second break-and-enter to an Anne St. business was also reported to police yesterday morning but remains open at this time as police await results of the at-scene investigation that was conducted by the Barrie Police Service Forensic Identification Unit.
