A Chatsworth councillor wants to see the township create a policy to address large gatherings.
Coun. Peter Whitten says his motion comes as he and others have concerns surrounding large gatherings which impact neighbouring residents.
“The Township of Chatsworth does not have any policy in place to regulate these things. It is not pertaining to any one event in particular, it is just so we can address it moving forward,” says Whitten.
He says the policy would not effect special events like weddings, but gatherings on both private and public properties of more than 500 people.
“We are just concerned that if something was to arise, we have the proper policy in place to deal with it, in particular things like stipulations regarding noise and how much noise we can have at what hours as well as traffic concerns on our municipal roads,” says Whitten.
The specific details of what the policy will include will be discussed at council.
“We want to look at other municipalities to see what they have in place and perhaps go from there and try to get something in place that will alleviate any concerns,” says Whitten.
Council will consider this motion at its meeting on Aug. 2 at 9:30 a.m.
