The Owen Sound Billy Bishop Regional Airport is once again, for sale.
The property, which is actually within Meaford, was sold by the City of Owen Sound in 2021 to Clayton Smith, a member of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association who has experience in airport ownership and operations.
Smith also bought the Wiarton Keppel International Airport in 2021. A December 2021 report by Bayshore Broadcasting News noted, at that time, he also owned Lake St. John Airport and Float Plane Base in Orillia and Georgian Bay Airways, a float plane service in Parry Sound.
The Owen Sound Billy Bishop Airport is currently listed on Realtor.ca for $3.7 million.
The realtor’s write up says, the property for sale included terminal building, runway, taxi ways and all infrastructure associated with the federally registered airport.
It notes all of the hangars are on net land leases, and four are owned by the airport and included in the sale price.
The listing says it’s a “Fantastic opportunity to run a business and land bank a large parcel with highway frontage. Tremendous upside potential and ability to grow the income through fuel sales and rental income. New fully fixtured restaurant ready for summer 2023 grand opening.”
