Grey Highlands is officially opening and naming the Armstrong Creek Trail.
The municipality says community members, staff and council gathered June 21 at Rotary Park in Markdale to celebrate the newest trail.
The trail is located at Rotary Park in Markdale and was revitalized in 2018 with the assistance of the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority, GSS Engineering, Seeley and Arnill Construction, Trout Unlimited Canada, TC Energy, Enbridge Gas, The Rotary Club of Markdale, and the Ontario Wildlife Foundation. The municipality had also received financial support from Capstone Infrastructure and Bruce Power to help with the project.
The trail was created once the revitalization of the 600 meter long stream was completed. The trail features interpretive signage along the path, as well as benches, tables, and rest areas as it follows the stream before looping around.
“The new trail is part of the municipality’s plan to have more outdoor areas where people can get active and enjoy nature,” says Grey Highlands.
