The Owen Sound Hospital is receiving $650,000 from their Foundation’s Caring for Tomorrow Endowment Fund.
The foundation says in a release these funds for 2022/23, will help make improvements throughout the hospital, including new bronchoscopy equipment used by respiratory therapists, new nurse call systems for several departments, new airflow mattresses for in-patient units, and a new blanket warmer and televisions for the dialysis unit.
The foundation adds $13,250 of the total will go to assist nurses and other clinical staff with continuing education.
The fund, established in 1996, experienced investment losses during 2022, but the foundation says it reinvests what is has earned over and above the amount provided to the hospital each year, enabling the endowment to disburse the funds reliably each year.
The foundation says the endowment continues to grow with gifts from individuals, families, and donations left through estates, and in 2022, $214,000 was added to the fund.
Through this latest contribution, the endowment has provided almost $7.5 million to the hospital.
GBHS President and CEO Gary Sims says for 2022/23, they identified almost $8.7 million of new equipment and improvements at GBHS hospitals.
“My team and I are so thankful for the tireless work of our foundations and for each and every donor who invests in the future of hospital care,” says Sims.
