Local police services have lowered their flags to half mast, and offered condolences after two Edmonton police officers were shot and killed.
35-year-old Const. Travis Jordan, and 30-year-old Const. Brett Ryan were killed Thursday morning when they responded to a domestic dispute call.
Locally, Hanover Police Chief Christopher Knoll says on Twitter, his station has lowered its flag. He says, “HPS offers condolences to our policing colleagues in Edmonton who suffered a terrible loss after two of their officers died in the line of duty while protecting their community. These officers leave behind families, friends, & colleagues who are devastated & mourning their loss.”
West Grey police posted on social media Thursday, “The West Grey Police are devastated by the news that 2 @edmontonpolice officers were murdered in the line of duty this morning. Our deepest and sincere condolences and sympathies to the officers family, friends and colleagues. they are devastated by the news. Owen Sound police extend their deepest condolences.”
Owen Sound Police wrote, “Tragic news in Edmonton,” adding, “Our Service extends its deepest condolences to the family & friends of the Officers involved & to the entire @Edmpolice Service.”
Saugeen Shores Police Chief Kevin Zettel wrote in a post, “The flag at our station has been lowered to half mast to honour the lives of Edmonton Police Constable Travis Jordan and Constable Brett Ryan, who were killed in the line of duty.”
