Bruce County’s Housing Services team is encouraging eligible renters to apply for the Canada Housing Benefit.
The one-time top-up payment is $500, to help cover the cost of rent.
Renters who qualify can apply through their CRA account, and register for direct deposit to receive the money faster.
Those unable to apply online can call 1-800-282-8079.
The one-time top-up does not affect other federal benefits, such as the Canada Workers Benefit, the Canada Child Benefit, or the GST credit.
The deadline to apply is March 31, 2023.
