The Bracebridge Fall fair is back in a big way this weekend (Sept 16th-18th).
The Fair’s President Dave Nichols says there will be lots to do at this year’s event for the whole family.
Last year things were constrained by the pandemic and there were just the competitions, including the heavy vegetable weigh-off, but this year they are back with a full-fledged fair.
“The Midway, all the attractions including live entertainment (is happening),” says Nichols, who guesses that weather permitting this year’s three days may see up to 60,000 people.
The Super Dogs are back with a new agility show. There’s also a new horse show happening and a derby with English horse riders.
Stilt walkers and ostrich walkers will appear throughout and a new lumberjack show will happen Saturday.
“The big pumpkin weigh-off is Saturday,” says Nichols. “Ben, the chair of that committee is expecting a squash or pumpkin Canadian and World record.”
There’s also a petting farm, sheep shearing, culinary arts, and fiber arts exhibits happening at this year’s fair, and of course the Junior Fair which has proved really popular.
Friday night admission will cost $5 per person and children under 12 are free if accompanied by adults.
Saturday and Sunday the cost of admission is $10 per person with children free if accompanied by adults.
“Just come out and have a good time,” urges Nichols. “See friends you haven’t seen for a few years and have fun. We’re open – we’ve all been working hard trying to get it ready to go again, so come on out and let’s have a good weekend.”
The fair runs from Friday through Sunday.
