Construction is starting back up again to expand natural gas to more communities in Bruce County.
EPCOR says it’s resuming work with its construction partner AECON to bring, safe, affordable, and reliable natural gas throughout the construction season.
The work is already underway in Inverhuron, Chesley, and Point Clark, with construction scheduled for Paisley and Lurgan Beach to start in the coming weeks.
Crews will also be resuming their work in Kincardine and Lucknow this July and Ripley in August. Those living in Tiverton will see construction take place later in November.
Laura Ehrkamp from EPCOR says the construction started in 2019 to install 57 kilometres of pipeline from the Village of Dornoch to the Bruce Energy Centre.
Construction was put on hold for the winter season and resumed when ground conditions were suitable in the spring.
EPCOR says as many properties have landscaping or driveways which extent into area where they will be completing their work, local driveways, sidewalks or landscaping may be disturbed to expose underground utilities, but will restored.
Those who have underground systems including sprinklers, irrigation systems, invisible dog fences or septic systems are asked to contact EPCOR to notify them as these cannot be identified through utility locating services and could damage construction.
EPCOR Vice President Susannah Robinson says they appreciate the community’s support and patience as they bring natural gas to residents and business owners in the region.
“We ask residents to take a few small steps, such as notifying EPCOR of underground systems on their property, staying safe around construction areas and contacting Ontario One Call before digging in their years. This helps ensure the safety of their families, our crew and everyone in the community,” says Robinson.
