Bruce County Paramedic Services has received a donation of fidget muffs and quilts from the Bervie Women’s Institute.
The County says the donation of these 32 items will support Alzheimer’s and dementia patients, and will be available in Bruce County Paramedic Service ambulances to assist in patient care.
Paramedic Services Deputy Chief Ray Lux says at their 2019 paramedic training with the Alzheimer’s Society, it was identified that items like fidget muffs and quilts can help relax those suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.
“Bruce County Paramedic Services is very honoured that the Bervie Women’s institute once again thought of us and our patients when creating these wonderful and helpful comfort items,” says Lux.
In the past, the institute has donated items like small blankets and teddy bears for pediatric patients served by county paramedic services.
County Warden Janice Jackson says, “I’m always amazing by the generosity in our community and the thoughtfulness and creativity of the Bervie Women’s Institute. That you so much for your generous donation that will help provide added comfort and calm for residents receiving care from our Bruce County Paramedics.”
