John Diefenbaker Senior School was placed in a hold and secure on Tuesday after Hanover Police received an unconfirmed report of a youth possibly in possession of a gun.
Hanover Police Chief Christopher Knoll says in a social media report an investigation resulted in the recovery of a pellet pistol.
A 14-year-old youth was arrested and faces a charge of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
The hold and secure at John Diefenbaker Senior School was lifted prior to the end of the school day Tuesday.
Police say the investigation is ongoing but the weapon was not used to threaten anyone or fired.
