The Toronto Raptors are at Detroit tonight to meet the Pistons in the National Basketball Association
Toronto will be looking to start a new win streak after Phoenix halted the Raptors run at 6 in a row Tuesday night at Scotiabank Arena
However, it’s not the win streak that was primary topic of discussion.
As the Suns were putting the wrap on a victory, Phoenix star Devin Booker was at the free throw line and complained that the Raptors mascot, one of the precious few bodies that was actually in the building, was distracting him
The referee, trying to keep the peace I guess, banished the Raptor mascot who trudged away from the baseline under the raptors basket and sulked in the corner of the venue.
All of which reminds me of the time Youppi was ejected in Montreal.
The Expos and Dodgers were playing a lengthy game at Olympic Stadium that went into extra innings when Youppi suddenly appeared wearing oversized pyjamas, a night cap and clutching a pillow.
When Youppi lay down for a sleep on top of the Dodgers dugout, LA Manager Tommy Lasorda snapped and had the umpires eject Youppi
It’s interesting to note that in both the case of the basketball game Tuesday and Youppi back in 1989, the Raptors and Expos lost the games when their mascots got the boot.
