The Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce is receiving nearly $138,000 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker notes says in a release the funding coming through the Resilience Community Fund grant was used to help the CMHA Grey Bruce adapt its youth awareness programs to a virtual presentation.
Walker says, “the funding provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation has provided additional resources to support our youth experiencing mental health challenges during the extenuating time of Covid, and will benefit our community in numerous ways, both now and in the future. Thank you to members of CMHA for adapting and ensuring services were available when needed and for all you do to serve the people of our community in their time of need.
On top of the CMHA bringing on two new staff, they were also able to change up the in-person classroom presentations to virtual and pre-taped formats, as well as provide take home kits for children, youth and families for over the holidays.
CEO of the CMHA Grey Bruce Mental Health and Addiction Services Clark MacFarlane says, the impact of the Ontario Trillium Foundation grant has been astounding.
“This grant has allowed our youth awareness programs to keep up with the demand of classroom presentations in our community, and we are thrilled with the positive impact that it is making on our youth,” says MacFarlane.
The association says it is committed to providing presentations to the youth in Grey Bruce, and anyone looking for more information can visit the CMHA website.
