There may not be an actual Gran Fondo bike event this year because of the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, but the Change a Life Challenge has got some wheels under it.
The staff at the Super 8 has joined the Change A Life Challenge and together will be logging their kilometres from now until August 15th as they plan to walk across Ontario.
The team plans to put in 1,114 km worth of walking which would equal the distance to walk across Ontario.
It’s the first official Team Challenge in Port Elgin.
Super 8 and the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) are hoping to create some amazing community fun this summer through local community challenges like this.
Local businesses, sports teams, organizations, even groups of friends and family are encouraged to form a team and answer the challenge or create their own challenge.
With everyone taking part, Super 8 General Manager Jenn Cortan says they hope to be able to “walk around Lake Huron which is a whopping 6,164 kilometres.”
You can register yourself or create a team for the Bruce Power Change a Life Challenge at www.granfondolakehuron.ca and try to meet or beat the Super 8 team’s fundraising and distance.
Executive Director of the SMHF Tracy Murray says this year’s fundraising is more important than ever.
Participants will be raising funds to purchase a new defibrillator and new ECG machines for the hospital.
