A Markham resident is facing impaired driving charges following a multi-vehicle collision that closed a portion of the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound on Friday.
Police say at around 9:40 a.m., Grey Bruce OPP responded to a collision on Highway 6 and 21 on the Sunset Strip after a tractor trailer had crashed with three other vehicles at the intersection near McDonalds.
According to OPP, officers on the scene arrested the transport driver for impaired driving and other offences.
The OPP said on Friday, one of the drivers was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries, while the other was transported by ambulance. As of Monday, police say the injuries are non-life-threatening.
An investigation resulted in the 60-year-old driver being charged with driving while impaired, driving causing bodily harm, failing to comply with demand, and possession of a substance.
The accused’s vehicle was towed and impounded.
He was given a court date in Owen Sound for later in May.
